If you’re experiencing problems with multiplayer gaming and party chat options, changing your NAT type to Open may solve the issue. To do so, press the Xbox button to open the Xbox One guide and then navigate to the System tab. From there, select Settings and then Network. Next, select Network Settings and then Advanced Settings. Here, you’ll find your IP address and MAC address — write these down for later use.
To continue, open a web browser on your PC and access your router’s login page. Enter the Xbox One’s IP address as a static IP in the router’s DMZ settings. This ensures that incoming traffic from the internet is directed to your console.
Once you have completed the above steps, return to the Xbox One’s Network screen and select Test NAT Type. If all goes well, your NAT type should be listed as Open. Keep in mind that some routers may require additional configuration steps, so always refer to your router’s documentation for specific instructions.
