How to Boot Into the UEFI on Surface: 5 Steps

The Uniform Extensive Firmware Interface (UEFI) replaces the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) on Surface and allows you to make changes that affect your entire device. This wikiHow will show you how to boot into the UEFI. To begin, ensure that your Surface device is powered down. If your Surface is frozen, then press and hold the power button until the device is fully turned off. The location of the power button and volume buttons depends on the device you have. On Surface Go, Surface Pro, and Surface Book, they on the top of the device. On Surface Studio, they on the lower right corner. On Surface Laptop, the power button is located to the left of the Delete key, and the volume buttons are on the keyboard. Press and hold the volume up button on the actual tablet. Do not confuse it with the volume up button on your detachable keyboard. Press and release the power button while continuing to hold the volume up button.

The Surface logo will appear, followed by the UEFI firmware settings menu.
